Lauren Halász
Mezzo-soprano - Bethany Hörst Studio
Currently studying vocal performance at Western University, Ottawa native Lauren Halász is quickly advancing as a young artist under the guidance of soprano Bethany Hörst.
Halász frequently performs in galas, masterclasses, and competitions in Canada. In the summer of 2015 she received training from The Canadian Operatic Arts Academy and was featured in The Gold Fever Follies, a professional stock theatre company (Rossland, British Columbia) in their 29th season. This past summer, Halász played Joan in the Canadian Premier of Fun Home (Calithumpian Theatre Company), as well as attended La Musica Lirica’s summer program to study the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni.
Favourite opera credits include Third Spirit in Die Zauberflöte (WUOpera, 2017), Suor Osmina and Prima Sorella Cercatrice in Suor Angelica (WUOpera and Halifax Summer Opera Festival), and The Female Scarecrow in R. Murray Schafer’s The Spirit Garden (Sounds of the Next Generation, 2016).
