Bethany Hynes
Soprano - Patricia Green Studio
A native of Newfoundland, Canada, Bethany grew up in the southern United States. She serenaded her family's chickens for many years before deciding to pursue classical singing at Memorial University in St John's, Newfoundland.
While obtaining her Bachelor and Masters degrees at Memorial, Bethany sang the roles of Pamina, Dido, and Fiordiligi. She also premiered the role of La Sorcière in Dean Burry's opera Le Nez de la Sorcière. with Opera Roadshow. Currently, Bethany is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at Western University in London, Ontario. Her research aims to encourage singers to have a more positive relationship with their voices and themselves. Bethany is thrilled to present her second DMA recital, Messiaen’s epic song cycle Harawi, in the spring of 2018.
When she isn’t singing, Bethany loves to knit, rock climb, read classic literature, and amuse her husband with her harebrained schemes.
